Letter from Sandra Cameron, Salisbury

I CAN think of few events more guaranteed to lift the spirits and engage the senses than the Cathedral Flower Festivals. Another triumph.

Thank you to all who conceived and executed it. Your expertise and all the hours of planning, preparation and production have given many people much pleasure.

Sadly, because of the minimal advertising and the cathedral’s exclusively online timed entry system, some would-be visitors have been excluded from the spectacle because they have limited or no access to the website.

Many of us older folks struggle with IT, do not have smart phones and rely on family and friends to take us out, adding to the pressures on them, and increasing our guilt complex at being a nuisance.

As a friend put it - it’s age discrimination.

Rant over. The memories of a wonderful spectacle will remain.
