A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after crashing into the Poultry Cross in Salisbury during the early hours of this morning (Saturday, May 21).

Wiltshire Police say the man, who was driving an Audi A3, failed to stop for officers and after a short pursuit the vehicle collided with The Poultry Cross on Butcher Row just before 12.45am.

Damage was caused to the building and the vehicle.

The man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol and criminal damage.

The driver and two occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

Wiltshire Police says the man remains in custody and enquiries into the incident continue.
