WITH Jubilee festivities taking centre stage from Thursday, June 2, police officers are urging the public to take care and enjoy celebrations responsibly.

Across the long weekend officers will continue protecting the streets, as the city becomes alive with entertainment, street parties and more.

As part of this, officers are in particular urging residents to not drink and drive.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "The Platinum Jubilee bank holiday will be an exciting few days for all, packed with many celebrations and events to mark Her Majesty The Queen's 70 years on the throne.

"We know that many people will be attending street parties and other events over the course of the long weekend.

"We want everyone to enjoy themselves safely and to respect others, including our own officers, staff and specials, who will be out and about in your communities across the long weekend.

"If you're planning on drinking, please don't drink and drive. Arrange suitable travel home in advance, and remember you may still be affected by alcohol the next day too."

The spokesperson added: "As always, we are here if you need us. You can report a crime via our website or by calling 101. If it's an emergency, always dial 999."
