Communities across Fordingbridge, Ringwood and Verwood will be joining together to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen has became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne.

 

Fordingbridge 

Fordingbridge will be hosting a free jubilee picnic at the recreation ground today (Thursday, June 2).

The event, which has been organised by Fordingbridge Events Group and Fordingbridge Town Council, runs from 3.30pm to 10pm.

Throughout the afternoon there will be music from the decades of the Queen’s reign as well as live music acts, children’s entertainment and the Rotary Club’s duck race.

Hyde Band will play the fanfare at 9.30pm which will be followed by the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm.

The jubilee picnic event will also include a street party competition where residents can enter a photo of their street party which can be taken over the bank holiday weekend. Email information@fordingbridge.gov.uk with a contact name and telephone number before the June 9 deadline. Entries will be judged by the new Mayor Anna Wilson.

 

Breamore

Today (Thursday, June 2), there will be live jazz with The Sarah Bolter Trio at Hulse Hall. Doors open at 6pm. Admission is free. 

Later in the evening there will be a shuttle running to take people to the Breamore Estate for the lighting of a jubilee beacon. There will also be beer and a hog roast for a £5 donation to the Hall.

 

Ringwood

A Party in the Park is being held on Sunday (June 5) at Carvers Recreation Ground with the main entertainment programme starting at noon and the event runs until 6pm.

A live music stage will feature a variety of acts throughout the afternoon and 14-year-old local solo artist Lewis Simons will warm the crowd up from 11.30am followed by Jitterbug Jive at noon and more live music.

There will also be lots of activities for children and families including circus skills workshops and Punch and Judy shows as well as some smaller fairground rides and it will be ‘All Aboard the Platinum Express’ thanks to Chuffley Miniature Steam Railway.

From 2.30pm local junior schools will compete in a series of fun challenges to see who will win the Ringwood and Fordingbridge Jubilee Challenge Cup.

Visitors can also enjoy the Pimm’s tent run by Ringwood and District Round Table. Money raised will go to support local causes.

An event screen will live stream events happening across the country including jubilee pageant.

Entry to the event is free.

Ringwood’s beacon will be lit from the tower of the Church of St Peter and Paul in the Market Place today (Thursday) at 9.30pm.

 

Verwood

Verwood Carnival will be hosting a special carnival to celebrate the jubilee tomorrow (Friday, June 3). The procession starts at 10.30am from the Fuzzy Bit off Crane Drive, which will make its way through the town to the Verwood Carnival event at Potterne Park, which is open from noon until 5pm. There will be arena events, a fun fair, music, and stalls.

Running from tomorrow until Sunday is a teddy bear trail. On the Saturday, various street parties are being held and on Sunday a thanksgiving service at Verwood Memorial Recreation Ground 10.30am and an afternoon tea with Verwood Brass Band, 3pm.
