CROWDS turned out in force to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in Fordingbridge.

The free jubilee picnic took place at the Recreation Ground yesterday (Thursday, June 2) afternoon.

The event was organised by Fordingbridge Events Group and Fordingbridge Town Council.

Throughout the afternoon there was music from the decades of the Queen’s reign as well as live music acts, children’s entertainment from Krazy Kev as well as a bouncy castle and a fair ground ride.

The Rotary Club of Fordingbridge's duck race also drew plenty of spectators as they waited in anticipation to find out if their duck would be the first to the finish line.

There were 2,500 ducks in the main race and tickets sold out last week.

The top prize up for grabs was £500 with £200 and £100 for second and third place.

Money raised from the Rotary duck race, which was sponsored by Carter and May, goes to support local community projects.

In the evening, the town's beacon was lit.

The streets and homes in the town have been decorated with bunting to celebrate the jubilee.

As part of the jubilee celebrations in the town a street party competition is being held where residents can enter a photo of their street party which can be taken over the bank holiday weekend.

Email information@fordingbridge.gov.uk with a contact name and telephone number before the June 9 deadline. Entries will be judged by the new mayor, Cllr Anna Wilson.
