RUMBLINGS of Primark opening a store in Salisbury have resurfaced as the store says it is reviewing "opportunities for expansion".

While there has been no public confirmation of the store's opening, some believe Primark could occupy the empty building that was BHS in the Old George Mall.

There is ongoing work at the site with escalators stripped, construction vehicles parked inside and workers coming in and out daily.

In 2020 the discount chain told the Journal it did not have plans to come to the city.

In a recent statement however, a Primark spokesperson said: “We continually review opportunities for expansion of the Primark business however, as you'd expect, we don't comment on speculation about where or when we might open our next stores.”

Primark does not offer online shopping which is why customers travel far to shop instore.
