A van full of cooking equipment worth over £20,000 was stolen from a Salisbury catering business but the owner is determined he will "bounce back".

Charter 1227 Catering's van was stolen from Newton Road in Salisbury on June 7 between 7.50pm and 9.40pm.

The van was packed up with barbecues, salad bars and a bain-marie ready for the next day when it was stolen.

Danny Bozic, 51, owner of Charter 1227 Catering, has been building up his business for years and survived two years of no bookings during Covid lockdowns but said "we don't have time to wait, we have to rebuild".

"We had a brilliant jubilee but it feels like we take one step forward and three back. I am absolutely heartbroken."

The monetary value of the stolen goods is only half of the problem since the barbecues were tailor-made by business partner Simon Baker, 46.

"We will never replace what we have lost. It has been an absolute nightmare," added Danny.

Simon, who has not had a day off since April, said: "How dare someone take away someone's livelihood."

Carpe Diem Catering kindly offered its van free-of-charge to Danny for Salisbury Live today but the theft meant they had to change their menu from Greek and Mediterranean to Mexican and barbecue.

Upcoming weddings and festivals will be disrupted by the theft and Danny said he will "have to change everything" to continue trading.

Despite the huge hit to Danny's business, he has been overwhelmed by the positive support from the people of Salisbury, so far his Facebook post has been shared 269 times.

He said: "Thank you everyone, I appreciate the support of the city. I will definitely bounce back."

Wiltshire Police is investigating the report into the theft of the Ford Transit T350, registration YT13 BPK, and anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220058626.
