CROWDS enjoyed the sunshine and entertainment on offer at Alderbury's Picnic in the Park.

The family fun day event was held at the recreation ground in the village on Saturday, June 11.

During the day there was live music from local people, who gave their time for free to entertain villagers, games including splat the rat, fitness fun from Kidz Love Fit, and bike marking from the police, as well as various stalls for people to browse around and much more.

The entertainment continued into the evening with a programme of music from Salisbury Live with headliners the Duran Duran Experience who got people up on their feet dancing to the band's classic hits.

Keith Wallace, who was the main organiser of the event, said: "It was brilliant. To be honest we were overwhelmed and did not expect the majority of the village to turn out. We were very pleased that they did."

"The turnout was better than we imagined," he added.

There has already been lots of positive feedback from local residents saying the village must have another picnic in the park.

Keith also thanked his small team for all their support and everyone involved and says planning will soon start on the next picnic in the park.
