IT IS a big year for Salisbury's Studio Theatre as it celebrates its 70th anniversary. 

To kick-off its own jubilee celebrations the Ashley Road-based theatre is going to be presenting a celebration of Shakespeare's varied and various talents in Merely Players.

It features scenes, songs, sonnets and snippets from the great man at the theatre from Wednesday, June 22 to Friday 24 at 7.30pm.   

This will be followed by a grand garden party in the Woodford Valley on Sunday, July 3 at 2pm when Merely Players will again perform in the flower-filled garden of The Court House, followed by tea, cakes, strolls by the river, as well as a browse around the book stall.

Entrance at the gate for the garden party - £5 for adults, and children are free.

Studio Theatre has also announced it new season of plays which are planned for the coming year.

Running from September 29 to October 1 is Murder in the Cathedral followed by The Comedy of Errors on October 17 to 22. 

There is pantomime fun at Studio Theatre when it presents Treasure Island which runs from December 5 to 10. 

In 2023, productions include A Fine Bright Day Today (March 27 to April 1), A Doll's House, (May 22 to 27) and Steel Magnolias (July 10  to 15).
