Detectives investigating a serious assault in Salisbury are trying to track down a potential witness.

The incident happened outside the Cathedral Hotel in Milford Street at around 2.15am on February 20.

Police say a man in his 20s was assaulted while walking home from a night out and sustained facial injuries, which required treatment.

A statement issued by Wiltshire Police today (June 20) said: "Last month (May 9) we issued a CCTV image and subsequently identified a man we needed to speak to. Our enquiries are ongoing.

"However, we are now in a position to release the attached image of a woman who was in the area at the time, in the company of a man who may be her friend or partner, and may have key information which could assist our enquiries.

Salisbury Journal:

"Anyone who is able to identify the woman and her partner, or has information on this case, should call CID South on 101, quoting crime reference 54220018152.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
