THE much-publicised train strike will impact Salisbury commuters today (June 21) and again on Thursday and Saturday this week.

Due to the Network Rail and National Union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers (RMT) strike, no trains will run through Salisbury station.

The strike is occurring due to wages not keeping with inflation, and jobs are at risk which could lead to safety being compromised.  About 50,000 workers are anticipated to be joining the strike.

It is likely to impact commuters, holiday makers and those who were planning to attend events such as Glastonbury.

Southwestern Rail (SWR) are urging customers to travel by rail only if necessary between June 21-26.

It is important to check the service prior to travelling and more information can be found here National Rail Enquiries - Service Alteration Details

We have spoken to some of the workers on strike and more details to follow.
