If that sounds like your kind of vibe then head to Wilding this summer. They have a huge terrace which gets the sun all day; delightful dishes full of the colours and tastes of summer and superbly refreshing drinks. The convenient location of this restaurant, wine bar and shop on the high street also makes Wilding a perfect pit stop when out and about in Salisbury city centre, as well as an ideal meeting spot to relax and unwind with friends and family.

The Terrace

It will be hard to move once you’ve found your spot on the Wilding terrace. The stylish bistro seating, parasols and willow wicker fencing give a touch of privacy while allowing you to sit back and watch the world go by. Whether you’re making the most of the brief British summertime or cooling down in some much-needed shade, the view of the distant Cathedral Spire, the colourful bunting on the high street and the music drifting over from the regular roster of buskers, will make you feel like you’re on the continent!

The Wine Shop

Luckily Wilding has lots of outstanding wines from France, Italy, Spain and all-around Europe to further transport you. Travelling in taste to Australia, South Africa and the Americas is also possible as Wilding has over 250 wines from around the world. Simply head to the wine shop nestled at the back of the restaurant to pick out something special for the table (paying a corkage fee) or grab a bottle to enjoy at your next picnic and BBQ. Sarah, Andrei and the team’s main enjoyment in life is finding guests the perfect wine for every occasion!

Refill Wine

Also available via the shop is the Refill Loyalty Scheme. Buy a refill bottle on deposit, pick a wine from the 10 wines on tap at the bar, and bring it back to be refilled again and again. Not only are you massively reducing the carbon footprint of your wine (as reusing a bottle is much less wasteful than recycling due to the reduced energy and emissions during production and transport), but you are saving a bucket too! In house a bottle of Ciello is £22 and Le Petit L’estrille is £28, while a takeaway Refill bottle is £10 and £13 respectively.

Frosé and Cocktails

Before you tuck into your food, we highly recommend one of Dave’s craft cocktails (£7, from 5-7pm on weekdays). Having run two London bars which regularly featured in Time Out’s Top 50, he knows how to create something to savor and devour. And if you really want to beat the heat then you must try Frosé, which is unique to Salisbury and an absolute game changer in the summer months!

For a beautiful spot in the heart of Salisbury, full of people who are passionate about quality plates of food, discovering exciting wines and making cocktails, you must head to Wilding.
