A MAN has been arrested after an altercation involving a weapon in Ringwood yesterday (June 22). 

Ringwood Police received the report of a man threatening another man outside the Gateway Building and was “promptly” arrested. 

A spokesperson for Ringwood Police said: “Upon arriving on scene and speaking to the victim, a suspect was spotted by Ringwood officers and promptly arrested to ensure the safety of all involved parties.

“CCTV was viewed and the male was transported to Southampton Custody where he will remain until he is interviewed by our investigations team about the offence.” 

Officers in Ringwood also responded to reports of theft of tools from a van as well as further antisocial behaviour in the area.

A dispersal order was put in place in Ringwood town centre last weekend following reports of anti-social behaviour. 

Ringwood Neighbourhood Policing Team made the order in effect from Friday evening, June 17 through to 9.21pm on Sunday, June 19 as part of a clamp down on anti-social behaviour in the area.
