A £650 MILLION takeover bid is currently with the shareholders of Go Ahead - the parent company of Salisbury Reds.

The bus operator has assured however there will be “no anticipated impact” to services “at the moment”.

The consortium offer comes from Kinetic and Australian bus operator and Globalvia who are infrastructure specialists. If the takeover goes through, it could lead to changes at operation level.

Corporate affairs director Andrew Clark said: “There is no anticipated impact on the Salisbury Reds at the moment, the board has recommended the shareholders accept the bid.

“Kinetic and Globalvia consortium have made it clear they intend to keep Go-Ahead as a standalone business, with all local management intact and provided a detailed proposition. In the long term, we are optimistic.”

The Salisbury Reds travel shop is due to close on July 1 due to a reduction of footfall and an increased usage of the APP and website. With reduced usage on the buses, this is likely to lead to the way bus routes and schedules are allocated going forward.
