NEW playground equipment at Wilton CE Primary School received a special blessing from the Bishop of Salisbury.

The Right Reverend Bishop Stephen Lake carried out the blessing during a visit to the school on June 21, which was his first visit to a school since his inauguration.

All the staff and children, along with trustees of the Wilton Middle School Educational Trust, and members of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust, watched as the Bishop blessed the area and the children with rosemary and water.

Bishop Stephen spent time talking with the children and governors and had a tour of the school. He reaffirmed his ambition to visit all the church schools within the diocese and to make a difference to all young people.

Head teacher Richard Boase said “It was a great honour to welcome Bishop Stephen on his first school visit and will be a special occasion that we will all remember for a very long time.”

Bishop Stephen added: “Quite apart from the importance of my first school visit, going to Wilton CE Primary was fun. What a great school."
