NEW LIFE is being breathed into the Boat House in Salisbury.

The couple, who transformed The Stag Hotel in Lyndhurst into a thriving community hub, are now hard at work in Salisbury renovating the riverside property.

The rundown venue was once very popular with businesses and coach parties and Maria and Steven Harris have shared photos of their progress to-date.

In the last few weeks, they have been busy stripping the building down to its basics and repairing the damage that years of neglect created. The aim is to create a simple yet contemporary feel.

Marie said: “I fell in love with the place even though it needed so much work.”

During the day, there will be posh sandwiches with soup or tapas with speciality dishes available in the evening.

They hope to open the doors to the public on August 31 which will be the first time in years that the Boathouse has had customers.

Not content with renovation work, the couple have just accepted an offer to run The Old Mill Hotel in Harnham which closed recently. The venue is expected to re-open at the end of September.
