AN AMBER weather alert for "extreme heat" has been issued by the Met Office.

Salisbury, one of the areas affected, is set to reach highs of 32 degrees by the end of the week.

The heatwave is being felt across the whole country, with the warning in place from Thursday, August 11, until Sunday.

While not matching the impact and record-breaking temperatures of last month's heatwave, the weather service has still highlighted the risk of heatstroke and sun burn, travel disruption and equipment failure.

Most of the country is being hit by the four-day amber alert, including London, Birmingham and Brighton.
