BRADFORD ON AVON: Mr Neil Pollard of Lyde Green Cottage, Bath, wants to demolish an existing rear extension, and replace it with a two-storey extension and single-storey extension, as well as change the use of an outbuilding to a self-contained holiday let.

This would all be at 126 Winsley, Bradford On Avon - which is a Grade II listed building.

According to the planning documents, the property has been vacant for several years and "consequently suffers from neglected maintenance", including missing ridge tiles on the main roof, slipped slates on the roof of the outbuilding, and defective gutters and rainwater pipes.

The intention of this application is to address the lack of a bathroom in the main house and to carry out a schedule of repairs to the external fabric of the property, as well as upgrading its central heating, electrical and water services and thermal insulation in order to ensure the future sustainability of the house. At the same time planning permission is being sought for change of use of the outbuilding to a separate residential unit which will be let out for self catering holiday use.

CALNE: There are plans to demolish a former Co-op in order to build 26 new homes.

If approved, there will be a selection of one-bed, two-bed and three-bed apartments, as well as four-bed townhouses, and some commercial space fronting onto Mill Street.

Calne Free Church, a listed building adjoins to the west and is almost touched by the former Co-op building, with minimal separation between the two.

To the east are residential properties on Mill Street, Vicarage Close and Grierson Close, with a corridor of green space running eastward along the river. To the south are the shops on Church Street and the listed St Mary’s Church.

The design proposals create a series of new public open spaces and pedestrian routes across the site which link onto existing off site pedestrian routes and public spaces.

CHIPPENHAM: Plans were discussed this week for the installation of a solar farm on land to the south of the M4 at Leigh Delamere, to the west of Leigh Delamere Motorway Services.

The farm, of up to 49.9MW of generating capacity, was discussed by Wiltshire Council's Strategic Planning Committee.

It would comprise the installation of solar photovoltaic panels and associated infrastructure including customer cabin, customer substation, DNO substation and equipment, inverter and transformer substations, spare part container, associated battery storage, access tracks, fencing, security cameras, landscape planting and associated works.
