A man has died after a car collided with a telegraph pole in Salisbury.

Emergency services were called to the single vehicle collision on the A30 at around 2.10am today (Monday, August 29).

Wiltshire Police says that for reasons currently unknown, a vehicle had left the carriageway on a slight right-hand bend and collided with a hedgerow and telegraph pole which caused the car to roll.

The driver – a local man in his 20s – died at the scene. A police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."

As of 5.55pm, a road closure was still in place on the A30 from the St Thomas' Bridge roundabout roundabout at Laverstock.

Any witnesses who may be able to assist officers with the investigation, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, should call 101 and quote log number 26 of August 29.
