The family of a 21-year-old who died after a crash on the A30 in Salisbury say he was "infinitely loved as a son, brother, friend and soldier".

William Beal, died in a single vehicle collision in the early hours of Monday, August 29.

A tribute from his family said: "He was infinitely loved as a son, brother, friend and soldier.

"Words cannot describe how much he will be missed by his family and friends and how devastating the loss is.

"William will always be remembered and loved by many.

"William’s family appreciates all the messages of love and support, and it is the family’s wish for their privacy to be respected as they try to come to terms with their grief."

Trooper Beal served in the Royal Dragoon Guards and was based in Warminster. 

Emergency services were called to the single vehicle collision on the A30 at around 2.10am on August 29.

Wiltshire Police said that for reasons currently unknown, a vehicle had left the carriageway on a slight right-hand bend and collided with a hedgerow and telegraph pole which caused the car to roll.

The 21-year-old, who was off duty at the time of the incident, died at the scene.

An Army spokesperson said: “It is with sadness that we confirm the death of Trooper William Beal of the Royal Dragoon Guards on August 29. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
