CATTLE escaped after a section of fence was cut and a water trough was also stolen. 

Police are appealing for witnesses after incidents of theft and criminal damage in Mere, which happened sometime over night on September 2 and 9am on September 3. 

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said that an "unknown suspect/s has cut a section of fence enough so cattle had escaped and a water trough was stolen from the location".

Both incidents took place on the public footpath just off Rook Street.
