THREE ‘Tree of Trees’ from the late Queen’s Green Canopy have been gifted to Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council with one tree being given to The Harnham Water Meadows Trust.

Part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the Tree of Trees stood outside of Buckingham Palace as a symbol of hope, regeneration, and optimism and 300 organisations from across the UK were announced as recipients.

Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Troughton said, “I am delighted that Wiltshire and Swindon have been chosen to receive the trees – two Alnus glutinosa trees (Alders) and a Betula pendula (weeping birch) from the Queen’s Green Canopy ‘Tree of Trees’ and am proud to become part of this project to honour Her Late Majesty in our county.

“I much look forward to attending the planting ceremonies this Autumn, and I hope that these trees, plus the trees which were already planted in the county as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy, are enjoyed by everyone in the local community as a symbol of hope and regeneration for many years to come.”

The three trees will be distributed to The Harnham Water Meadows Trust in Salisbury, The John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge and also, to the volunteers from Swindon’s vaccination programme.

Each tree is gifted in a pot with Her Late Majesty’s cypher embossed upon it and will become a part of her living legacy joining over a million trees already planted across the UK as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.
