DRIVERS are being warned to expect disruption due to overnight closures on the A31 this weekend.

The A31 will be closed overnight from Friday (October 21) to Saturday 22, 8pm and 6am, between M27 Junction 1 (Cadnam) and the A338 at Ashley Heath.

On Sunday, October 23, the eastbound A31 will be closed, 8pm and 6am, between A338 at Ashley Heath and M27 junction 1 (Cadnam).

From Monday, October 24 to Friday 28, Ringwood Flyover will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am eastbound and westbound.

National Highways is urging drivers to "plan ahead and to leave extra time during their journeys" due to upcoming overnight closures.

Diverted traffic should follow the signs and leave the A31 and rejoin via slip roads.

The closures, which are part of the scheme to widen the A31, will allow the switchover of traffic lanes from the contraflow back onto the westbound carriageway.

Traffic will use the westbound carriageway lanes from 6am on Sunday, October 23.

The switchover during the closure, National Highways says, will also allow the westbound Verwood exit slip road to be reopened.

The section which remains closed in the central reserve will enable kerb and drainage work to be completed, as well as the installation of new safety barriers.

The eastbound carriageway will continue using the contraflow until the road and slip roads are fully re-opened at the end of November.
