TWO laying hens have been shot at with catapults at a community farm, with one them dying.

The attack took place at River Bourne Community Farm on Cow Lane in Laverstock. A similar incident occurred at the farm in September 2020.

Two people (pictured) were captured on CCTV at the entrance to Cow Lane, and the police have released two CCTV images in their appeal for information.

The small group of free-range laying hens which were targeted have since been rehomed by the farm, primarily due to mandatory housing orders imposed by DEFRA on November 7 to contain the spread of avian flu, but also with the attacks in mind.

The police requested that anyone with information dial 101 and quote crime reference number 54220115619.

A previous version of this article claimed that this had been the second incident at the farm in recent months. This was originally reported by Wiltshire Police in error following a miscommunication with River Bourne Community Farm.
