SAINTS’ Carabao Cup quarter-final contest with Manchester City has now been given a confirmed date.

Nathan Jones’s side will host Pep Guardiola’s Citizens on Wednesday, January 11 (8pm), with the game being showed live on Sky Sports.

Saints have progressed through three rounds of the competition to reach the last eight.

They beat Cambridge United 3-0 under Ralph Hasenhuttl back in August, before overcoming Sheffield Wednesday on penalties following a 1-1 draw while Ruben Selles was in interim charge.

And with Jones at the helm for his first competitive home game, they sealed a 2-1 victory over Lincoln City in the last 16 on Tuesday.

City progressed to the last eight after beating Liverpool 3-2 at Etihad Stadium on Thursday, thanks to Nathan Ake's winner.

City’s victory ended the Reds' reign as holders and kept Guardiola’s side on course for a fifth victory in the competition in six seasons.

A statement from Saints about purchasing tickets for the game read: “Tickets will initially go on sale to season ticket holders on Wednesday, December 28, from 2.30pm.

“Full ticket details and pricing will be released in the upcoming days.

“Fans are advised that purchase windows will be shorter than previous rounds due to the short turnaround time to the fixture.”
