CUSTOMERS in an Amesbury café raised £1055 when they supported two ‘Christmas with Friends’ lunchtime events.

The events were organized by the management of Taste Café in their high street premises, and customers gave an appropriate donation to the chosen charity – the Salvation Army.

The first event of mulled wine and mince pies took place on Sunday, December 18, and the cafe opened again for the second event on Christmas day.

Salisbury Salvation Army spokesperson Captain Martin Davison said: “We are delighted that this community-minded local business has supported our work in Salisbury with these friendly and sociable events.

“Chatting to a few of the customers in the café, I can see how valued this facility is as a social hub and a good place to meet with others. The idea of opening for lunch on Christmas day, when some of their regular clients may have home alone is really thoughtful, and kind.

“We are delighted the initiative has been such a success and raised so much money for our work”

The Salvation Army say that the money raised will be dedicated to helping people who need support or practical assistance, or if an individual needs someone to sit and listen to them.

The event was so popular that dates are being planned in the café for next Christmas.
