A financial advisor has been charged with 29 counts of fraud totalling over £5 million.

Richard Webb, 64, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court this morning via video link.

Prosecutor David Foster said the defendant is accused of defrauding more than 20 victims of £5,032,770.47 by encouraging them to invest.

Webb, of Long Valley Road, Twerton, Bath, gave no indication of pleas in relation to the charges.

“There is no indication to any of the charges at this stage”, defence solicitor Andy Lee told the court.

Mr Foster asked the case to be sent to the crown court.

The case was adjourned until February 15 at Salisbury Crown Court. The defendant was released on unconditional bail.
