PEOPLE are being invited to hear more about Wiltshire Council’s budget proposals at a webinar next week.

The webinar will take place from 5.30pm on Wednesday, January 25 and can be accessed here. People can ask questions during the webinar or in advance by emailing the council's communications desk by Tuesday, January 24.

Wiltshire Council published its budget proposals for 2023/24 and the next two financial years last week, detailing how the council will continue to provide quality services and make savings while navigating through a period that includes a cost-of-living crisis, huge inflation rates and high energy prices. Cllr Richard Clewer, leader of Wiltshire Council, is asking residents to attend the webinar to find out more details about the proposals and how the council intends to stay financially self-sufficient during this challenging and unpredictable time.

Cllr Clewer said: “This continues to be an extraordinary time to set a budget, so our webinar will be an opportunity for residents to find out all they can about our proposals and the context behind the decisions we’ve put forward and a chance to ask questions.

“The services we provide have an important impact on residents’ day-to-day lives, so we hope people are able to attend and get out from the session what they can.”

For those not able to attend on January 25, the webinar will be recorded and made available on Wiltshire Council’s website and shared on social media the following day.

No final decisions on the budget proposals have been made, and prior to being discussed and debated at full council on Tuesday, February 21, they will be scrutinised by various groups including members, group leaders, trade union representatives and the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Management committee.
