A man has appeared in court charged with stalking a New Forest resident online.

Timothy O’Brien, 55, of Athelstan Road in Christchurch, was charged with stalking after a New Forest resident reported receiving multiple unwanted online messages.

The incidents took place between December 13 2022 and January 21 2023.

O'Brien was remanded into custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on January 25.

His next court appearance has not yet been set.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "Tackling this sort of crime is a priority for us, if you have been affected please report it to us via 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.

"We know that not everyone who has experienced this type of crime has the confidence to speak to police."
