THE HAIR Extension Cave has set up its own relief project to help the survivors of the earthquake in Turkey with so many people displaced and many still buried beneath layers of rubble.

The owner of the salon on Silver Street Molly Cook has already cancelled many of her clients today so that they can all focus on sorting through the donations received and has turned an upper floor into a sorting room.

Time-sensitive, donated items must be received and ready by 2pm on Wednesday, February 7 at 2pm.

Employee Nazan Ketemcimen said: “We are going to take the deliveries up to London tomorrow because the Turkish airlines are currently offering free cargo flights for equipment.

“It is the winter months, so we will happily take in more donations if people cannot get items to us tomorrow. So, anything to keep people warm, children’s nappies, warm clothes, blankets, duvets and outerwear and footwear.”

They have already received boxes of clothes ready to be sorted but desperately need more.

Nazan added: Babies are still being born there and there are many lost families. It is not just one main area but 10 cities. When you are an adult, you can keep warm, but children cannot so we will take what we can."

Nazan explained that they would also like to help people in Syria as the country has also been badly affected but they currently do not have a contact there so if anyone is able to help them with this, they will donate 50 per cent of the donations to Syria.

Next week, the plan is to take in dried or canned food as this can also be transported easily.

Anyone who would like to donate warm winter wear for all ages can drop them off at the Hair Extension Cave on Silver Street.
