Fun, mud and an obstacle course await participants in the Muddy Dog Challenge which takes place in April in the New Forest.

Pet owners and their canine companions will have to jump over, crawl under or tackle a variety of obstacles including the Mutt Mazes, Ball Pit Tunnels and the Canine Crawl.

The aim of the Muddy Dog Challenge is to raise funds for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and there are two courses to choose from – 2.5 km or 5 km but both courses are muddy.

Jasmine Monk, Senior Challenge Events Officer at Battersea, said: “We are so excited to be back in the New Forest for the Muddy Dog Challenge and we can’t wait to see everyone getting muddy and tackling our obstacle course with their canine companions by their side.

“Battersea continues to go above and beyond for every dog and cat – caring for animals in our centres and supporting other rescue and rehoming organisations across the UK and beyond to help more animals. Every penny raised by our wonderful supporters will help us continue our mission to be here for dogs and cats everywhere.”

Create a team event or go solo and face the challenge on your own. Each participant is encouraged to raise a target of £100 for Battersea so the charity can continue to be there for dogs and cats when needed.

Jasmine said: “Registrations are now open, and we are currently running an early bird offer for £10 off adult tickets so please sign up as soon as possible, as the offer won’t be around for long. We look forward to seeing everyone having fun in the mud again.”

Once registered, participants will have a Muddy Dog Challenge T-Shirt and dog bandana and those who make it across the finishing line will gain a medal and rosette.

Registration closes on Sunday, April 2, 2023, and will take place at Breamore House in the New Forest on Saturday, April 22. The organisers welcome volunteers for the event.
