A care home has fundraised for and pledged to support River Bourne Community Farm.

Residents and staff of Milford House Care Home, near Laverstock, presented the farm's chairman, Ben Parker, with a £240 cheque.

The "much loved local venue", which is a short walk from the care home, has been a regular place for residents to go for a cup of coffee and meet the animals.

Each month this year the home will undertake an in-house fundraising activity with larger events planned later down the line to support River Bourne.

When Ben visited the home to accept the cheque he told residents about the farm's history, how it has developed, its plans for the future and the funding needed to keep it going during challenging times.

General manager Gemma Hicks, at Milford House, said: "To get the ball rolling, residents were delighted to present Ben with a cheque for £240 which was raised over the Christmas and New Year period.

"Residents will be enjoying regular monthly coffee mornings at the farm with the first one being on March 9th. We can’t wait and are looking forward to catching up with Ben again then."
