JOHN Glen has officially been chosen as the Conservative candidate for Salisbury at the next general election.
Mr Glen has been Member of Parliament for Salisbury since 2010, and has also served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury since October 2022.
Before that he spent four years as Economic Secretary to the Treasury under Theresa May and Boris Johnson's government.
Mr Glen said: "I was grateful to be re-adopted on Friday (February 17) as the Conservative candidate for Salisbury at the next general election.
"In my 13 years as an MP I have never taken the support of constituents for granted, and I will continue to work hard to represent your concerns in Westminster."
When he was first elected in Salisbury in 2010, he increased the Conservative's majority in the area by 2.8 per cent.
In 2015, he took 55.6 per cent of the vote, this time an increase of 6.4 per cent.
In 2017, he won 58.1 per cent of the vote, with 30,952 votes. He saw a decrease of his share of the votes in 2019, but still won 56.4 per cent of the votes.
The date of the next general election has not yet been announced.
