THESE five people appeared in court for various criminal offences this week.

Michael Salter, of Wyndhams Place in Tisbury, assaulted Callum Arnold causing him actual bodily harm on April 4.

This was an unprovoked attack of a serious nature which required a custodial sentence and Salter pleaded guilty.

Salisbury Magistrates gave him a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months on June 1.

Salter, 31, was ordered to pay £930 compensation to the victim, court costs of £400 and a surcharge of £128 by June 29.

He must also complete 18 days of rehabilitation activity with a psychologist.

Martin Babey, of Whatcombe Brow in Orchester, caused damage to the bathroom of a house on George VI Road to the value of £4202.96.

The house belonged to Aster Group and he caused the damage on February 27.

Babey, 34, was sentenced to pay £1000 compensation by Salisbury Magistrates on June 1.

This will be deducted from his benefits and must be paid within 28 days.

His guilty plea was taken into account and he must also undergo 12 days of psychological treatment.

Joshua Nathan Strom, of Eyles Road in Tidworth, drove a VW Transporter on the A338 while drunk.

The 25-year-old was caught on June 12, 2022, and pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was ordered to pay £667 by Swindon Magistrates on Thursday, June 1.

Strom's driving license was disqualified for 12 months, the minimum penalty for this offence.

If he completes a drink driving awareness course before December 29 this disqualification will be reduced by three months.

George Hughes, of Burnt House Lane in Bransgore, drove along the A35 near Hinton while disqualified and with traces of cocaine and cannabis in his system on November 29, 2022.

Hughes, 50, pleaded guilty to the three charges and was sent to prison for four months.

Salisbury Magistrates ordered him to pay £154 and disqualified him from driving for a further 74 months on June 1.

Hughes was imprisoned because he has a "flagrant disregard for people and their property".

Hannah Baker, of Longhedge, assaulted police constable Nicola Mead and special constable Jade Duke on December 28.

The 30-year-old was ordered to pay £134 before June 24 by Salisbury Magistrates on May 25.

There was no order for court costs from the Crown Prosecution Service due to Baker's limited means.

She had already spent time in custody and the court deemed her detention served.
