A MAN has been charged with attempting to commit rape in Stratford sub Castle.
William Thomas, of Macklin Road, was arrested by police on Mill Lane on June 1.
He has been charged with attempted rape, possession of a bladed weapon and committing assault with the intention to commit a sexual offence.
He will appear before Salisbury Magistrates Court on June 5.

As previously reported, police were called to an incident on Mill Lane at approximately 11am. A police helicopter circled the area for 30 minutes while area was searched. Police later confirmed that they had arrested an individual in connection with the incident.
A police spokesperson said: "William Thomas, 28, of Macklin Road, has been charged with attempted rape, committing assault occasioning actual bodily harm with the intent to commit a sexual offence and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
"He has been remanded in custody to appear before Salisbury Magistrates Court tomorrow (June 5).
