SALISBURY, our great medieval city has been named as the second most stylish place to live in Wiltshire, according to a new survey.

The survey, carried out by online store Furniturebox, recently revealed the top 20 most stylish places to live in our county, with our very own city being ranked number two.

Locations were ranked according to the beauty of the buildings, the stunning scenery, their popularity with artists and as a filming location.

Chippenham-based Furniturebox polled 5,000 people with panels in each county including Wiltshire

The top five most stylish places to live in Wiltshire, according to Furniturebox are as follows:

1. Castle Combe 

2. Salisbury

3. Grittleton

4. Tisbury

5. Marlborough

Tourism hot spot Castle Combe was the highest-rated location in the county.

Castle Combe has featured regularly as a filming location, most recently in The Wolf Man, Stardust and Stephen Spielberg's War Horse.

Castle Combe came 12th on the national list, which was topped by Lavenham in Suffolk.

Surrounded by the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Castle Combe offers plenty of picturesque walks and quaint village streets.

It has often been described as the UK's prettiest village and regularly features on the cover of tour guides.

A Furniturebox spokesperson said: "Castle Combe is the most stylish place to live in Wiltshire.

"Any of the Wiltshire locations voted by residents would have been worthy winners and show why it is such a stylish county, loved by artists, filmmakers and tourists from all over the world."
