A MAN had pleaded guilty to beating another man while possessing an imitation firearm.

Brinley Fairfax, 27, of Shepherds Cottage on Wilton Road, entered his plea at Salisbury Crown Court on Wednesday, July 26.

The court heard how on June 28 Fairfax assaulted Teague Selmon in Wilton and had an air rifle in his possession to cause the victim fear of violence at Burcombe.

Armed police attended an address and arrested Fairfax following the incident.

His Honour Judge Andrew Barnett ordered a pre-sentencing report to be completed and said: "You had the good sense and courage to plead guilty."

Fairfax was released on conditional bail and must attend his sentencing on September 18.
