AN EVENT set up by two Chalke Valley friends and neighbours that celebrates health, wellness and nature returns to the area next month.

Verve festival began in 2019 when Anna Hayward and Charlotte Cummings met at a yoga class. Having both worked in a corporate environment, they were keen to do something in the health and wellbeing arena.

The pair achieved success with their inaugural weekend-long festival, held in Broad Chalke in September 2019, but the following year the pandemic struck and the festival had to be put on hold. It was relaunched in 2021 and has been a one-day event held at Hatch House, Tisbury for the past two years.

Now this year's event returns for a full weekend and wellness fans can choose to attend on the Saturday, Sunday, or both days.

Anna said: "We both work in other sectors but this was something we wanted to do. The event has changed over the years. It is like a reset for people.

"We get lots of emails afterwards saying how much they got out of it."

Visitors can participate in yoga, meditation, breathwork, gong baths, fitness and dance classes as well as forest bathing and enjoy the Woodland Spa and treatment cabins followed by a sauna and cold water plunge pool.

At the end of the day, you can dance to DJ sets and return to the luxury bell tent.

Children are welcome, but Anna says most people want to have more time for themselves.

"It is a real escape," she said.

Verve takes place once a year.

Anna added: "As soon as this event finishes, we start to plan the next. It takes 12 months. We have already booked Hatch House for the event for the next few years."

Verve Festival is held at Hatch House, near Tisbury on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17. For more information, go to the Verve festival website feeltheverve.com
