THE cast of Wiltshire Creative's latest production are in the middle of intense rehearsals for Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.
Based on the P.G Wodehouse stories, Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense starts on September 1, and features Luke Barton playing Bertie Wooster, Alistair Cope playing Seppings, and Patrick Warner playing Jeeves.
None of Barton, Cope or Warner were particularly away of Wodehouse before this play came along, but its safe to say they all are now.
All three spoke of the hilarity of the novels, and how they can't wait continue reading the novels once the run is over.
Wodehouse was a prolific author, writing 72 novels in his lifetime, as well as a collection of short stories, poems and plays.
For Cope and Warner, it is their first time playing the Playhouse - Barton has previously tread the boards here twice, most recently for Spike, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman's play about Spike Milligan.
The whole cast were also keen to praise the crew behind the production: Designer; Olivia du Monceau; lighting designer: Jane Lalljee; sound designer: Matt Eaton; casting consultant: Liv Barr; producers: Alice Bezant, Amanda Bruce and Lydia Scott.
As with every Wiltshire Creative production, everything from the set to the costumes is made in-house.
With the show starting on September 1, rehearsals are in full swing, when the cast stop laughing that is.
Following on from the success of How the Other Half Loves, Wiltshire Creative will this season be increasing its work as a producing theatre, with three in house productions on the Salisbury Playhouse Main Stage.
Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense will be followed by The Girl on the Train - the thriller based on the bestselling novel by Paula Hawkins and DreamWorks’ film, running from October 19 - November 11.
The season culminates with Dick Whittington, which runs from November 25 to January 7.
Director Marieke Audsley said: “I'm thrilled to be working with Wiltshire Creative and the Octagon Theatre Bolton on this hilarious adaptation of P.G. Wodehouse's much-loved novel, The Code of the Woosters.
"We have a really exciting cast to bring Bertie, Jeeves, their friends (and foes!) to life, and a wonderful creative team to create the fabulous world of Berkeley Mansions and Totleigh Towers. Both dedicated Wodehouse fans and anyone new to Jeeves and Wooster can look forward to a fantastically farcical evening out!”
Jeeves and Wooster is at the Salisbury Playhouse from September 1-23. For tickets click here.
