Salisbury residents will no longer be able to enjoy pizza from the city’s top-rated restaurant on TripAdvisor starting next week.

Pizza Venti has announced that it will be closing its doors for the final time on Sunday, September 3.

In a post on the business’s Facebook page, Alex Popescu, who owns and manages Pizza Venti along with his wife, Maria, said: "It’s been a huge learning curve for us, one that God knows if we can recover from, but if I could turn the time back, beside trusting less people, I wouldn’t change anything.

"Life means taking chances and making a positive difference in this world. We loved seeing your smiles, we loved to meet so many people and organisations that makes this wonderful community of Salisbury. Thank you for everything.”

Alex and Maria have been open about the struggles the Fisherton Street pizza restaurant has faced during recent years as a result of rising prices for supplies and lower customer numbers due to the cost-of-living crisis.

The announcement is not the first time Pizza Venti has said it would be closing, though the scheduled date of closure has crept closer this time with no word of a reprieve.

The pair added two days ago on Facebook: "We want to say a big thank you for all the memories you helped us create along this time.

"It has been truly an honour to host you, delight you with amazing pizzas and deliver Hapiness in the shape of a pizza to your home."
