YOU may have noticed the bar on Brown Street has been given a makeover this week.

The exterior of the building has been re-painted with a vibrant Rude Giant mural, and the Journal can now exclusively reveal that the Wiltshire-based brewery is going to be opening a "destination bar and dining space" at the venue.

It comes after it was announced in August that the venue would be closing temporarily for a change of ownership.

Rude Giant Beer House’s first night of business will be Wednesday, October 4.

Rude Giant said the site would “provide the city with a destination bar and dining space serving delicious drinks, hearty food and a varied programme of entertainment and good vibes.”

Rude Giant has repainted the exterior of the building in a bright green mural and said there will be 80 covers distributed throughout both the indoor and outdoor courtyards.

There will also be a stage area for live music, weekly DJ sets, a weekly quiz night and regular events such as "meet the brewer" evenings, open mic nights, bring your own vinyl specials and charity events.

Ethan Davids of Rude Giant Co. said: "Establishing Rude Giant’s first permanent space feels like a massive step for the brewery and something we are all excited about. Our spot on Brown Street in Salisbury is special – original parquet flooring, historic drawings on the walls, and importantly generous outside area makes the space really unique.

"We’re a Wiltshire-based business and for us provenance is key; so, it’s only right that our first beer house is in the city we all grew up in. We’re buzzing!".

Rude Giant has released a food menu that will include burgers made with beef from Parsonage Farm in Farley and mac ‘n’ cheese topped with braised beef brisket and jalapeños. Drinks will include creations from Rude Giant’s own brewery.

Lyall Dew of Rude Giant Brewing Co. said: “Since the age of 16 I have been brewing cider with apples from my parents’ garden and making homebrew in Uni dorms and airing cupboards. Brewing using local crushed malts and whole-leaf hops still inspires my brewing today. Our brewhouse allows us to bring traditional and modern styles together to brew everything from malt-driven cask beers, to crisp lagers and more hoppy styles. Rude Giant is built on the belief that you don't need to be a connoisseur or critic to love good, tasty beer.”
