THE hard work and achievements of pupils across Salisbury were recognised at the first Mayor's Awards event.

Mayor of Salisbury, councillor Atiqul Hoque, hosted the event on Thursday evening, October 5, at the Guildhall.

Cllr Hoque presented awards to 11 pupils from five local schools who were nominated for either the highest achiever or active contribution category.

Nominated pupils, their parents, head teachers and teachers were invited to attend, as well as Salisbury City Council's councillors.

Cllr Hoque hopes new mayors will carry on the event in years to come, he said: "I'm delighted to introduce this first ever Mayors recognition award, I'm hopeful that this is something our future Mayors will continue and make a yearly event.

“It was a pleasure to give awards to these hard-working young people and I have no doubt that they will do great things in the future.”
