SIX pubs and restaurants in and around Salisbury received the results of their food hygiene standards inspection this week.  

The inspection provides information as to how food is stored, prepared, handled and the overall cleanliness of the facilities.

The results were generally good with four of the businesses listed obtaining the highest standard.

The Wig and Quill Inn located on New Street in Salisbury was awarded a three out of five rating following its inspection on September 12. This confirms hygiene standards are generally satisfactory.

Landlord Rob Wood said: "The previous food hygiene rating was disappointing. It was a case of missing paperwork, and a sink that didn't drain well. But I am happy with this inspection. We have new kitchen management and a new Head Chef. It's going in the right direction."

The Elai Indian restaurant located at The Boathouse; Mill Stream Approach was awarded a four out of five-food hygiene rating on September 14 signifying hygiene standards are good.

Four food outlets were awarded a five out of five result where hygiene standards are recorded as very good.

The Kings Head in Redlynch was awarded a Five out of Five rating on September 28.

The Wood Bar Ltd at The Five Rivers Leisure Centre was awarded a rating of five on September 29.

Chickpea Ltd at The Silver Plough Inn, Pitton was also awarded a five out of five on September 29.

The High Post Golf Club at the High Post in Salisbury was awarded a five out of five rating on September 28.
