A local leisure centre is holding a big family charity day this weekend

Downton Leisure Centre is raising money for Salisbury Foodbank on Sunday, December 17 from 11am-4pm.

The free entry event will allow families to get up to all sorts of fun, there will be a bouncy castle, slide hula hoop lessons, class demonstrations, free gym, indoor archery, mini lazer shooting gallery and sport competitions and games for all ages.

Dave Taylor, from the leisure centre, said: "It’s important to me that everything is free to visitors.

“This is our way of saying thank you for all the wonderful support we get during the year. And of course, we want people to come here and see what we’re all about”.

Anyone can get their hands on free food and drinks from mince pies, hot dogs and mineral water.

Families joining in with the fun will have the company of Santa and his grotto which has already sold out.

Mr Taylor added: “All of the 200 slots were taken up very quickly, but Santa has promised to find time during the day to tour the centre with his bag full of goodies and see any children that didn't get a grotto booking. He doesn’t want anyone to miss out.”
