A man who assaulted a shop worker who challenged him about shoplifting has avoided jail.
Jack Jordan,20, of Blandford Road, Coombe Bissett has been given a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to assault by beating and theft.
He appeared in Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday, December 15.

On Monday, July 31, police received a 999 call to Sports Direct after Jordan assaulted a member of staff who challenged him about shoplifting. Jordan was aggressive and left the scene on a motorbike.
An area search was carried out and Jordan was located and arrested.
He was sentenced to a six-week prison sentence for theft, and an eight-week prison sentence for assault both suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay a £100 compensation and a £154 victim surcharge.
