THE motorcyclist who was involved in a crash that closed a busy road through Salisbury suffered serious injuries.

A man in his 20s was transported to Southampton General Hospital with injuries which Wiltshire Police said were "serious but not thought to be life-changing".

This came after a crash involving a Red Renault Clio and a motorbike took place on Downton Road, A338, near the M&S garage.

Police were called to the scene at around noon on Monday, January 15, and closed the road to allow for enquiries and the recovery of the vehicles.

Several HGV drivers were unable to turn around and got stuck on the road.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area, but the road has since reopened.
