THE first show home at a major housing development in Fordingbridge has been unveiled.

Pennyfarthing opened the doors to The Rushby, a four-bedroom show home, at its Whitsbury Green development on Tuesday, January 17.

This home has an open plan kitchen and dining room, downstairs study and living room as well as four bedrooms including a master bedroom with an en-suite.

The flagship development of two, three and four bedroom homes and bungalows is set on the edge of the New Forest and offers the First Homes scheme.

The Government-backed initiative helps local first-time buyers and key workers onto the property ladder at a discount of 30 per cent.

While none of these First Homes have been constructed yet, Pennyfarthing said they will be available to reserve later this year.

"We have had some fantastic feedback from our opening weekend from prospective buyers looking to move to our fabulous Whitsbury Green development in Fordingbridge."

The show home is open from 10am until 5pm, Thursday to Monday, and no appointment is needed.

Pennyfarthing was granted permission by New Forest District Council to build up to 342 new homes at Whitsbury Green in September, 2022, amid infrastructure and traffic concerns.

District councillor Maureen Holding previously warned of an “enormous impact” on traffic and travel in the market town and said there would be “chaos for people trying to move around”.
