A HOSPITAL is hosting an evening of jazz to raise money for the Stars Appeal.

Centrepiece will be performing at Farley Hospital on Saturday, February 3, from 7.30pm until 11pm.

The trio includes vocals and piano from Cathy Tornbohm, Andy Maslen is on the guitar and Tom Bromley plays the electric double bass.

Jazz, blues and seventies classics are on the lineup and guests can expect tracks from Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, Burt Bacharach, Blossom Dearie and early Fleetwood Mac.

A DJ will also be supporting the band during the intervals.

Tickets, which include a complimentary glass of prosecco, cost £8 and proceeds from the evening will go towards Salisbury Hospital's charity the Stars Appeal.

Centrepiece was formed roughly 18 months ago and has performed at small gatherings but this is the band's first "proper" gig.

Mr Bromley explained how the trio played at a Stars Appeal event last summer in the "gorgeous" sunshine.

The upcoming gig will be played in Farley Hospital's 17th-century wood-panelled 'Longroom'.

"It's an absolutely beautiful building. We felt for a jazz gig it would work extremely well as it has a bit of atmosphere," Mr Bromley said.

The venue has a capacity of 70 and tickets can be bought from 26commit.com/jazz.
