A POPULAR pub in Salisbury is closing for refurbishment.

The Ox Row Inn, located in Ox Row, will temporarily close on Monday, January 29, so that it can be given a fresh look.

The changes aren't likely to be drastic, general manager Emil Szoma said: "It's more of a refresh, it will be a continuation of all the great stuff the Ox Row has done before.

"The refurb is more about giving something back to all of our patrons, from the people who come in regularly, to those who pop in whenever they are in the city or visiting the market.

"The Ox Row is well supported by the local community, and we want to give back to them, keeping all the elements they enjoy with a nice and refreshed look."

Pub-goers will not have to wait too long before The Ox Row Inn reopens, as the pub is due to be back in action on Thursday, February 22.

Emil said: "You can expect the Ox Row to reopen with a bang, there will be some live music and customers can enjoy an updated fresh, seasonal menu."

In November 2023, The Ox Row Inn was named Fuller's Pub of the Year, with Mr Szoma being described as a "Brilliant" publican by Fuller's chairman Michael Turner, who added: "[Emil] understands what his community needs - from putting on his own events at the pub to being on hand to support local events in Salisbury.".

Speaking at the time, Mr Szoma said: "Being a category winner in last year's competition, we had set our sights on being the overall winner – so I’m over the moon that we’ve achieved this.

"My team and I are so proud of The Ox Row Inn, we’ve worked hard to deliver a fantastic experience to everyone who visits – all the while supporting our local community."
