"We get a variety of entries from people looking to take their first step into powerlifting, those looking to just test their strength or just to have some fun.

"At the 349 gym, we have a vast amount of experience in competitions with around 50 per cent of our male and female members competing each year - alongside having British, European and World champions among our ranks - we believe we have the perfect environment to host these competitions.

"We had 18 females compete and 20 males with ages ranging from 18-55

"We host two novice competitions per year and two national qualifiers. The next national qualifier is from March 16 to 17, and free for anyone to come and watch.

"Our next novice competition will probably be around September time, keep an eye out on our Facebook and Instagram for dates as they sell out in less than a week."
